Medicare Supplement Plans

Many Different Plan Options to Choose From

Medicare Supplement Plans are additional health insurance policies meant to lower (or virtually eliminate) out-of-pocket medical costs for those who have basic Medicare. When you are ready, Overton Agency can help you choose a supplement plan that meets your individual health care needs.

What Are Medicare Supplement Plans?

Medicare Supplement Plans, or Medigap plans, are a type of supplemental insurance used to lower Medicare-related costs. There are many plans available in most states, the but most popular are Plan G and Plan N policies. No matter which plan you are interested in, it will at least cover some or all of these items/services:

  • Part A Coinsurance & Hospital Costs
  • Part A Hospice Care Coinsurance or Copayment
  • Part B Coinsurance or Copayment
  • First 3 pints of blood

Medicare Supplement plans will also cover 80% of your emergency healthcare services when you’re traveling outside the U.S.

What Plans Are Available?

There are currently 10 standardized Medicare Supplement Plans identified by letters A through N. Each one offers a slight variation in benefits. The plans cover a number of out-of-pocket costs related to Medicare-approved services, helping make healthcare more affordable for seniors who visit the doctor often.

**Plans C and F are not available to those who were eligible for Medicare after January 1, 2020.

What Else Should I Know?

An insurance company can’t sell you a Medicare Supplement plan if you already have coverage through Medicaid or Medicare Advantage. Also, Medicare Supplement plans cover one person—not a married couple.

If you enroll in the open enrollment period after you turn 65, insurance companies can’t deny you based on health conditions.
